Moby - Natural Blues - "It does not matter wherever you come from..."

It does not matter wherever you come from...

This song, written by the American musician Moby, is
one of the music videos and songs that I like the most; it is part of his
studio album called PLAY, in 1999. There is another video about this song, but,
I like the way this one was animated and directed by Susi Wilkinson, Hotessa Laurence, and Filipe Alçada.

When we are immersing in a world like we are, we tend
to think about certain things that are not important, but, what about thinking
about culture? As we see in the video, some cultures are joining there, not
explicit but if you try to see beyond your eyes, you can notice those are
there. Black people, disabled people, aliens, animals and musicians appear in
the video all together, all creating a clear atmosphere, where they are all the
same, they are equals in a way.

While you are listening to the lyric you may close
your eyes and you can start imagining what kind of things your mind is
creating, a lot of pictures about culture, about people, about nationalities,
about ethnics that are not explicit but you can infer.

It does not matter whether you are white, black, or yellow,
you are a person, and you have feelings and sensations, and despite of being
racist we can start opening our minds to new thoughts, to new arguments to say,
to new points of view, to a new era where we are human beings with soul and
heart and not only a piece of body.

  1. I totally agree with Paulina, because each of the characters perform a certain role in the video and they represent in a way what integration is.All of them share and respect each other despite of the fact that they are all different but equal at the same time.
Moreover they are like a community in which they do different activities together and spend marvelous moments when they meet.So the video let us know the importance of integration and not discriminate people just for the fact that they are different in some aspect, because they have feelings and sensation as all we have.

    1. I remember when we were discussing about the video that we had to choose, and I realized that this one fits perfectly for this activity, as you said before, every character has a role in order to represent the main differences between people.
